Welcome to the Thame Cycling Club

Hi and welcome to the Thame Cycling Club website. Thame is a lovely town in Oxfordshire surrounded by great roads, great climbs and great cafes. If you’re a road cyclist who wants to enjoy their cycling accompanied by similar enthusiasts, we are the club for you.
We are very specifically not a club that is competitive or pushy. Our ethos revolves around a social feel, relaxed rides and a supportive environment. We hold regular group rides in the local area and also arrange some trips to further flung places (think Albania, Wales, Morocco!). All rides are led by a suitably experienced rider and we take very good care of anyone who joins us. On occasions we also do some mountain-biking and gravel rides.

We have discovered that some people are nervous about taking up regular cycling for a variety of reasons but so far we have been able to inspire everyone who has given it a go. On a couple of occasions people thought they were not fit enough, some hadn’t ridden in a group or were even worried about their bike (they don’t have to cost £1000’s). If you give us a chance we will be able to dispel most doubts.

The club has grown over the last couple of years and we are always seeking new members. We have a strong female element and would particularly also encourage cyclists from diverse backgrounds to join us. Young people seem to find other ways of spending their time these days but we would love to see a wide spread of ages on all our rides.
